Explaining Events and Concepts
In a text, an author often explains an event (something that has happened or is going to happen) or a concept (an idea).
When you read, pay attention to the events and concepts the author talks about in the text. Ask yourself:
Does the text explain how or why an event happened?
Does the text focus on a concept or idea?
How does the author explain the events or concepts in the text?
